I. The Presupposition of Christian Prayer (vv. 5-7)

II. The Prohibitions for Christian Prayer (vv. 5, 7)

III. The Preparations for Christian Prayer (vv. 6, 8)

IV. The Pattern for Christian Prayer (vv. 9-13)

     A.      The Person we pray to (9)

               i.      “Our”

               ii.      “Father”

 

               iii.      “Who is in Heaven”

     B.      The petitions concerning Him (9-10)

                i.      “Hallowed be Thy name”

                ii.      “Thy kingdom come”

                iii.      “Thy will be done on earth…”

     C.       The petitions concerning ourselves (11-13)

                 i.      Provision for daily needs

                 ii.      Pardon for debts against God

                 iii.      Protection/deliverance from evil

     D.      Praise (“Thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever”)
